F.A.R.M Cafe
F.A.R.M Cafe is a locally owned nonprofit kitchen in Boone, NC who needed to have a refreshed brand identity. The goal was to create a more cohesive, inclusive, and approachable brand identity that better reflects the heart of F.A.R.M cafe’s mission to provide good homegrown food, with a warm and friendly environment. Parameters of this rebrand were a comprehensive brand system that celebrates the cafe’s community ties and commitment to nourishing all regardless of means.
BRANDING
2023
To start, many iterations of logos were sketched out to gain the feeling of the brand and what the logo should represent. It was decided to take the approach of a typography-based logo that was based off of vingtage farmer’s market sinage with an illustrative twist with illustrative plant accents.
This included developing a logo system for certain use cases to maximize accessibility across multiple platforms as seen in the primary logotype, a secondary logomark, and tertiary initial logo.
Because F.A.R.M. cafe also believes in the importance of a continuation of good, the logotype was developed to represent a rolling progression of good; from farmers and volunteers to the locals of the Boone, NC area to create a positive impact across the geographical area.
From a progressive logo also emerged a system of typography, color, and illustration to create a homegrown-yet-playful feeling for F.A.R.M. cafe’s identity.
It was also important to ensure that the system would also be flexible enough for a constantly changing menu. Because F.A.R.M. operates under what is locally available to farmer in the area, a simple menu template that could be changed daily.
With a simplistic-yet-approachable style, F.A.R.M. cafe’s new identity supports the locally grown roots of the organization with a fun, illustrative edge to give a positive, uplifting personality for a progressive, caring community kitchen.
