Talking Story
During our first meeting, we discussed general topics of rebranding Talking Story and further establishing the channel as a reliable brand.
To achieve this we solidified the story of the brand as community-oriented where John Minton, the primary host, is the face of the channel. The values include community interaction, and rebuilding connections through storytelling, describing the brand as a high-quality, fun, late night show that encourages joining between listeners. We also established a minimalist, desaturated style in the current brand, but dislikes the overt-masculinity of the current brand and its lack of accessibility. The brand should communicate the inviting nature of talking story, with elements of high-production values.

The Talking Story logo is a very simple typographic logo with traditional influences with modern modifications. Keeping a classic-yet fun and dynamic typeface in combination with the updated boy reading illustration, the logo combines both an illustrative call-back to the original Talking Story logo, while using a bookish-yet-approachable typeface.

Icon
A primary, secondary, logomark, icon, and horizontal logo were developed for talking story for maximum utility across many forms of media. This was an important consideration to take into account, especially for digital and printed platforms, as Jakob and John planned on launching a Patreon that featured more collateral, such as apparel, stationary, and bookmarks that would later be branded.
The new branding also needed to consider the use of introductory and outgoing animations for each video.
